President Edgar Lungu says there’s need for political leaders not to ignore the emerging use of guns by political cadres which he says has in some instances lead to death.
Mr. Lungu says Zambia is a peaceful nation and that the use of guns is a threat to democracy and social Norms and values that the country stands for.
Speaking when the Human Rights Commission paid a courtesy call on him at State house this morning, the Head of State added that there’s need to engage the police on the subject of human rights and proper application of the public order act.
He further said that his administration will ensure that the Human Rights Commission is well funded for it to execute their duties and obligations diligently.
And Mr. Lungu has assured the Commission that a 7th Commissioner will be appointed to allow efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of duties for the Commission.
