Environmentalist Robert Chimambo has commended governments decision to issue an order to Mwembeshi Resources for a halt to mining activities in the lower Zambezi national park.

Mr. Chimambo says Mwembeshi Resources have violated several conditions outlined in the Environmental Impact Assessment Decision Letter that pertain to the proposed large-scale mining activities covered within the boundaries of the Lower Zambezi National Park in Luangwa District.

Mr. Chimambo has told Christian voice news that government’s Decision to halt mining in the area is a huge step that will lead to the total cancellation of mining activities in the national park.

‘It is only a matter of time that the mining license for Mwembeshi resources will officially be cancelled saying that it will not be able to conduct mining under the new conditions set by government’,  Chimambo said.
