The Ministry of Health has launched the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Multi-age Cohort vaccination campaign which contributes to the prevention of Cervical Cancer among women.
The campaign which runs from the 25thn September to 30th 2023, under the theme “Protect the girl child against Cervical cancer,” is targeted at girls from 9-14 years.
Acting Minister of Health, Charles Milupi, said the campaign is essential as it is a major step to prevent the Human Papilloma Virus which affects both females and males, and can be transmitted through sextual contact.
“Cervical cancer is preventable and curable once detected early and at a manageable stage,” said Mr. Milupi at a press briefing in Lusaka today.
Mr. Milupi has since urged guardians to encourage their girl-children to take advantage of the opportunity and get the vaccine.
