Keshi gets Tuesday deadline for new contract

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have given coach Stephen Keshi a Tuesday deadline to agree a new four-year contract, officials said.

“He has until Tuesday to accept the new offer we have tabled for him,” a top official disclosed.

Nigeria have proposed to pay coach Stephen Keshi the same five million Naira monthly he received in his first contract.

The new contract will also provide him a car and a house in Abuja.

Keshi’s intial contract of three years ended after the recent World Cup in Brazil.

The NFF have announced Keshi is to sign a new contract as Nigeria coach “in a matter of days”.

“Having finalised the fresh contract with Mr. Stephen Keshi, for him to continue as Head Coach of the Super Eagles, and having forwarded same to Mr. Keshi, the executive committee expects the new contract to be signed by the NFF and Mr. Keshi in a matter of days,” read an official statement after an NFF executive committee meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

Last week, Keshi was reported to have said he has yet to be contacted over a new contract with the Nigeria Football Federation.

His first match on return will be a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda in Calabar on September 6.
