Minister of Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu says his ministry has made huge strides in combating illegal logging and promote sustainable forest management through collaborative partnerships.

Speaking at a Press Briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Nzovu said government in partnership with the US government, has undertaken a series of capacity building activities aimed at curbing international illegal logging.

He said the efforts have resulted in the active participation of Zambian officials in combating forest crimes, particularly those with transnational implications.

Mr. Nzovu said the successful collaboration has empowered 60 experts with specialized skills to address various forest-related challenges.

“furthermore, the introduction of innovative technologies, such as the timber traceability system developed with support from smart Zambia and the US government, has revolutionized the forest sector”, said Mr. Nzovu.
