Minister of Health Jonas Chanda has announced that the first consignment of the covid19 vaccines under the Covax scheme will arrive in the country on Monday, 12th April 2021.
Dr. Chanda says the consignment will only consists of the AstraZena jab from the Serum Institute of India.
Speaking when he gave a ministerial statement in parliament this morning, Dr. Chanda said that the jab will be administered voluntarily to individuals at great risk of contracting the virus such as frontline health workers, security officers and teachers among others.
And Dr. Chanda said that government will continue to prioritize the health of its citizens adding that the benefits of being vaccinated against the pandemic outweigh the risks.
