CONSTITUTION AMENDMENTS NOT PRIORITY – LM

The opposition Leadership Movement, has urged young people in Zambia to demand concrete evidence of their agreement to the proposed constitutional amendments.

This follows repeated statements by President Hakainde Hichilema, suggesting that the youths have endorsed the constitution amendment agenda.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Party Secretary General, Jairos Ngoma, criticized government for prioritizing constitutional amendments over addressing pressing economic challenges.

Mr. Ngoma has therefore urged government to focus on more progressive issues such as providing farmers with quality agricultural inputs to boost food production.

The focus should not be on amending the constitution and implementing constituency delimitation when people are struggling to afford basic necessities like food,” said Mr. Ngoma.

Meanwhile, Operation Young Vote Executive Director, Guess Nyirenda, stressed the importance of building national consensus on the constitutional amendment agenda.

He urged government to engage all stakeholders to ensure the process is legitimate and inclusive for all Zambians.
