Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic team in Lusaka. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, contributing to efficient financial operations, and supporting the financial decision-making process. This role requires a strong understanding of Zambian accounting standards and tax regulations, as well as proficiency in accounting software.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed1 assets.
- Prepare and process journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage and reconcile bank accounts and debit card statements.
- Monitor and manage cash flow.
2. Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file all statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, and other relevant taxes, in compliance with Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in Zambian tax laws and regulations.
- Assist with tax audits and provide necessary documentation.
3. Accounts Payable/Receivable:
- Process invoices and payments to suppliers.
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of payments.
- Reconcile supplier and customer statements.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
5. Internal Controls:
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
6. Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for management.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
7. Other Duties:
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

We are looking for someone who
- Has at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Has an ACCA, CIMA or ZICA qualification.
- Has a minimum 5 years of experience in relevant accounting experience in Zambia.
- Has a solid knowledge of Zambian tax laws and regulations.
- Is proficient in accounting software and MS Office Suite.
- Has a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Is comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment.
