2 FORMER ZESCO EMPLOYEES JAILED FOR FAKE ACADEMIC DOCUMENTS

Two former ZESCO employees have been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with hard Labor after being found guilty of falsifying academic documents, fraudulently securing employment, and unlawfully earning over K5 million in salaries and allowances.

ZESCO Spokesperson, Matongo Maumbi, says this is after an investigation revealed that both individuals submitted falsified Grade 12 certificates to gain employment at ZESCO.

Mr. Maumbi said that the their actions, which spanned over a decade each, were uncovered during a routine verification process.

“Both were sentenced to 3 years, and court rulings on the recovery of misappropriated funds are pending,” said Mr. Maumbi in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He has therefore issued a stern warning to ZESCO employees that fraudulent activities at the institution will not be tolerated, saying that anyone found engaging in misconduct will face legal consequences, including dismissal and criminal prosecution.
